Hola! My name is Hillary Buchan-Terrell and I graduated from the University of Western Ontario, specializing in Biology. One of my passions in life, science, makes me a kind of black sheep in a family full of “arts” graduates: my sister with political science and journalism, my mother with urban studies and my father with corporate law. While I am a nerd at heart, I have been brought up in an politically (Liberal) and socially engaged household where current affairs and politics typically dominate the kitchen table. In the interim after graduation, I have been working and volunteering for a local environmental organization and the United Way. Last year I was inspired to look beyond a traditional role of lab or field research scientists when I participated in a chance of a lifetime field course in Costa Rica. My next stop is to combine my innate interest in politics with my love of biology by attending law school in September 2010 to study environmental law. From there I look forward to exploring opportunities to influence and create policy in government and NGOs.
Oh and BTW I also enjoy indie music, snowboarding, hockey, movies, theatre, traveling and the outdoors. I have an adorable new golden puppy who I tend to gush about from time to time as well.
